Most of what I know of digital I learned on the internet. I quit photography after I lost my darkroom to my second son, then took it up a decade later when I saw that digital had advanced to the point that it is as good or better than film. I learned in the film days from friends who were photographers. We both made good grades, not as good as if we had done both, but respectable. My son learns better by reading, and didn't have to go to the lectures in many classes because he read the book. I learn better by hearing lectures and didn't have to read the books in a lot of classes because I went to the lectures. Learning is more specific to the student than the subject.
I went with Canon because of their great tilt/shift lenses and a few other amazing lenses and accessories available only to Canon (There are unique Nikon upgrades also) but have never bought any of them, so would be in the identical place with either.Īlso, what do you think is the best way to learn how to take quality photos - books, classes?
